A new high school will be coming to downtown Dayton next school year.

Valor Montessori High School, an independent school, will open in August at 31 S. Main St., in the Hub Powered by PNC Bank.

In its first year, the school will enroll ninth and tenth grade students. Brian McWhorter, the school’s board vice president, said the capacity for the school will be 60 students total, or 15 students per grade once all high school grades are in place.

He said the school has collaborated with Montessori high schools in Columbus and in South Bend, Indiana, who have started up schools in recent years with a similar vision.
